My name is Brennan Cleveland. I am a UX/UI Designer based in the Portland, Oregon area. I am a former Sound Design student whose fascination with the ways people interact with the world around them and psychology led me to a career in UX/UI. While seeking the motivations behind these interactions, I use testing and analysis to find patterns that divulge key insights for fitting solutions.
Born a Navy brat I have lived in many different places. Some highlights being Italy, England and Washington state. Meeting such a wide variety of people and seeing the differences in their ideology always intrigued me. When I went to college I knew I wanted to find a field where I had an impact on the experience of a user. I chose sound design because it gave an avenue to solve problems in a creative fashion, while also being able to operate technical software and hardware. My favorite thing was finding different methods or sounds I could utilize to create believable audio for film or games. I grew up an avid video gamer, often choosing to explore game worlds rather than the world outdoors. The ability to design elements to create an experience for a user has always stood out to me.
I gained a lot of valuable skills in my time studying sound design. I gained a lot of experience working with high pressure and unwavering deadlines while doing broadcast audios for live basketball games. Throughout all of my studies, a heavy focus was put on the experience of the end user. From appropriate level balancing to precisely matching dialogue to lip movements, I’ve always focused on all the minute details that affect how a user perceives something. This detail oriented, user focused, deadline driven experience put me in a good position when starting out in UX/UI.
When I’m not designing you will find me gaming, studying game design, dragging my feet through the gym or falling off of my skateboard.
